Historical Notes:
The 33rd Mississippi regiment was organized in early 1862. with 792 men. The unit fought at Corinth and Hatchie Bridge, then was assigned to General Rust's and Featherston's Brigade, Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana. It took part in various engagements during the Vicksburg siege and for a time was stationed at Jackson. Continuing under the command of General Featherston, the 33rd served with the Army of Tennessee through the Atlanta Campaign and in Tennessee and North Carolina. It lost 16 killed, 83 wounded, and 54 missing at Peach Tree Creek, had 85 officers and men fit for duty in December, 1864. It was consolidated into the 22nd Infantry Regiment in 1865, and surrendered on April 26, 1865.
