Chestatee Artillery Battery

Historical Notes:
The Chestatee Artillery Battery was originally Company M of the Georgia 38th Infantry Regiment. It was detached in May 1862 at Savannah, GA. On 14 Nov 1863 the Chestatee Artillery were ordered to report to Battery Bee at Fort Moultrie to relieve the Orleans Guard. They gave up their field cannons to man the Two-Gun Battery #3, facing Fort Sumter in the harbor. Battery Bee consisted of seven guns (four 10″ Columbiads, one 11″ Dahlgren, one 10″ Columbiad and one 8″ Columbiad) and was commanded by Capt. Warren Adams of the 3rd SC Artillery.
