West Virginia 2nd Veteran Infantry Regiment


HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 2nd Regiment, West Virginia Veteran Infantry organized December 10, 1864, by consolidation of the 1st Regiment, West Virginia Infantry and the 4th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry.

The regiment was mustered out of Federal service on July 16, 1865.

The 2nd West Virginia Veteran Infantry Regiment suffered one enlisted man killed or mortally wounded in battle and 16 enlisted men dead from disease for a total of 17 fatalities
ASSIGNMENTS:
Attached to Reserve Division, Dept. of West Virginia, to April, 1865. 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, West Virginia, to July, 1865. OFFICERS:
SERVICE:
On duty at Cumberland, Md., and at Bulltown, Braxton County, W. Va. Mustered out July 16, 1865. ROSTERS:
The roster of this unit contains the names of 1101 men.
