West Virginia 1st Veteran Infantry Regiment


HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 1st West Virginia Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment was mustered into Federal service on November 9, 1864, composed of re-enlisting veterans from the 5th and the 9th West Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiments.

The regiment was mustered out of Federal service on July 21, 1865.
ASSIGNMENTS:
Attached to 1st Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, West Virginia, to January, 1865. 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, West Virginia, to April, 1865. 1st Brigade, 4th Provisional Division, West Virginia, to July, 1865. OFFICERS:
Colonel William Henry Enochs SERVICE:
Duty at Beverly, W. Va., Cumberland, Md., and other points in the Dept. of West Virginia until July, 1865. Mustered out July 21, 1865. ROSTERS:
The roster of this unit contains the names of 1336 men.
