28th Regiment, New Jersey Infantry


HISTORICAL NOTES:
The New Jersey 28th Regiment Infantry was organized at Freehold and mustered in September 15, 1862. They were in the battle of Chancellorsville May 1-5. They mustered out July 6, 1863. OFFICERS:

  • Chancellorsville Campaign April 27-May 6.
  • Battle of Chancellorsville May 1-5.
  • Mustered out July 6, 1863.

    The New Jersey 28th Infantry Regiment, recruited in Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Camden and Gloucester counties. The specific counties where these companies were formed is unknown.
