Historical Notes
The Louisiana 3rd Infantry Battalion was organized June 11, 1861 with eight companies On June 5, 1862, Lt. Colonel Bradford resigned after being court martialed for disrespect to a superior. Major Pendleton was promoted to lieutenant colonel and Captain Robert A. Wilkinson of Company B was promoted to major. Seven Days Battles, June 25-July 1, Lieutenant Colonel Edmund Pendleton was captured. In July the battalion merged with the 7th Louisiana Battalion to form the 15th Louisiana Infantry Regiment. Lieutenant Colonel Pendleton would be colonel and Major Wikinson lieutenant colonel of the new regiment. Officers
