Historical notes HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 1st Regiment, Kansas Infantry was organized at Camp Lincoln, Fort Leavenworth, May 20 to June 3, 1861. It mustered out June 19, 1864. However veterans were on duty in the District of Vicksburg, Mississippi, until August, 1864. They mustered out August 30, 1865.

The Regiment lost during service 7 Officers and 120 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 3 Officers and 122 Enlisted men by disease. Total 252.
