6th Kansas Infantry Regiment

HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 6th Kansas Militia Infantry was called into service on October 9, 1864. The unit was called into service to defend Kansas against Maj. Gen. Sterling Price's raid. The regiment was commanded by Colonel James Montgomery after the arrest of the regiment's first commander, Colonel James D. Snoddy, on October 16, 1864. It was disbanded on October 29, 1864.
