First Families of

Currently two volumes are available. These book provide family sketches and genealogical information on the first families to settle in Newberry County, SC. The earliest settlers date back to the mid 1700s.

From the earliest land records for the area we have identified 83 families who were in the area prior to 1750. The First Families Project - Newberry County, SC CD-ROM has surname folders on these families with notes we have gathered in our research over the years. The First Families volumes focuses on the families which were apparently in the area as early as 1780.
